Bridal Dress Still Undecided for Jennifer Aniston

Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston is soon to marry her fiancé Justin Theroux. The couple have been engaged since last summer and fans are eager to see what Jennifer, hailed as a fashion icon, will wear to walk down the aisle.

Jennifer has been on television since 1990. After considering giving up acting due to appearing in a string of unsuccessful TV shows and films, she auditioned for a TV show that would eventually win her Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Emmy Awards: Friends. In the sitcom, Jennifer played the character of Rachel Green, for which she won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The show ran for ten years and eventually led to Jennifer and her Friends co-stars becoming the highest paid TV actors of all time, earning $1million each per episode in the tenth series. Jennifer has since gone on to star in several Hollywood films including Bruce Almighty and Call Me Crazy, which premiered on the 16th April.

At the premiere of Call Me Crazy, a reporter from E! News asked Jennifer if she yet had a bridal dress. "No, I don’t," Jennifer said, before joking that wedding planning 'might make me crazy!". Asked how she felt about her coming wedding, Jennifer said, "I’m extremely lucky and extremely happy".

On the Catwalk - New York Bridal Week 2013

The New York International Bridal Week will take place this month. There have been five shows since the first event revitalized the bridal industry in 2010 and Bridal Week now attracts thousands of designers, manufacturers and retailers.

Several beautiful wedding garments for Bridal Week have been previewed and all are incredibly exciting. Created by the best-known fashion designers on today's market, the bridal gowns have been causing a real stir on the catwalk and a range of interesting styles have emerged.

Vera Wang is well known for her wedding dresses. She has experimented extensively with lace in a great variety of forms, including lace applique, vintage lace, handwrought and guipure lace. Her signature creation included the increasingly-popular illusion neckline that has been recently seen on catwalks around the world, intricately embellished with patterned and corded lace. The highly embellished fabric was extensively used throughout Wang's collection, which sets the standard for current bridal trends.

Inspired by Grace Kelly's famous silhouette, the long, lace-sleeved wedding gown has enjoyed a massive surge in popularity after being worn by Kate Middleton at her wedding in 2011. Designer Oscar de la Renta has taken this look to new levels of drama with intricately-patterned lace sleeves and billowing skirts, creating a truly appealing look. Cute cap sleeves, ideal for a summer wedding outdoors, also featured in the collection.

Sophisticated necklines on classic bridal gowns were chosen by Carolina Herrera to give her models a modern, edgy look. The asymmetric neckline, which is particularly ideal for tall or broad-shouldered brides, was also seen in the bridal dress collections of both Monique Lhuillier and Vera Wang. All of Herrera's dresses featured a traditional silhouette combined with a modern feel, creating a truly unique and stunning collection.

Centuries of Elegance - Guipure Lace

Guipure lace is one of the earliest and most enduring types of the essential bridal fabric. References to beautifully-designed guipure lace date back as far as 1327, when the clergy of Exeter Cathedral proudly listed four pieces among their possessions.

Also known as filet or Venetian lace, guipure is almost certainly a decorative form of lace that was derived from the netmaking skills of early fishing communities. The word guipure comes from the Old French meaning 'to cover with silk'. Guipure lace always features a continuously repeating motif that creates a much denser pattern and firmer texture than other laces, giving a truly elegant and luxurious feel. Often floral or geometric in design, the motifs are formed from closely-packed embroidery that is stitched onto an incredibly fine fabric. During the finishing process, this backing fabric completely disintegrates and so is not apparent in the finished article.

Effortlessly combining the vintage lace style with a contemporary feel, Grace Ivory Guipure Lace is designed to be eye-catching. Columns of petals form a striking geometric pattern that is interspersed with an elegant fan of teardrops. Identical edges that are double-scalloped with another fan of teardrops give this lace a gorgeous, sophisticated line.

Eva is another fantastic example of guipure lace available from Platinum Bridal Fabrics. This ivory fabric comprises two repeating motifs; an attractive spiral design and a flower with a leaf curling around it. Eva features a very open design and so is suited to using over opaque bridal fabrics. Matching borders complete this tasteful design, which is always in great demand.

An emerging trend is for brides to really get creative and make their wedding dress completely unique and personalised. One of the ways in which this can be achieved is by using lace that is not in the traditional bridal colours of white and ivory. Layla guipure lace in red features bead and sequin details that surround a large sunflower motif enhanced with fine, delicate cord. A range of other colours is available and Layla lace always creates a strong impression.

On the Red Carpet - Platinum Bridal Fabrics 'Alexandra' Lace

One of Platinum Bridal Fabrics' all-time favourite laces, Alexandra, was used in the creation of a beautiful evening gown which wowed the paparazzi when worn by model and presenter Lisa Snowdon at the Elle Style Awards.

Lisa Snowdon is well-known from her extensive catwalk and television appearances. At the age of 19 while dancing in a London nightclub, Lisa was spotted by an agent from world-famous Premier Model Management and quickly became one of the top fashion models in the UK. She has graced the covers of many high-end magazines such as Marie Claire and Vogue whilst appearing in adverts for Lynx deodorant, Dove soap, Neutrogena shampoo and Mercedes-Benz automobiles. Lisa hosted reality TV show 'Britain's Next Top Model' between 2006 and 2009 before moving on to be a fashion model for Marks and Spencer and a lingerie model for beauty company Avon. Most recently, Lisa appeared on the BBC television series 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

Lisa chose top London bridal gown designers The State of Grace to create her stunning gown from Alexandra lace supplied by Platinum Bridal Fabrics. The State of Grace is a luxury brand with a great deal of experience in providing bespoke garments and accessories, making them the perfect choice to create the gorgeous dress which was a highlight of the red carpet at the Elle Style Awards.

Alexandra black lace is a heavily corded and beaded black lace, layered onto the finest tulle ground. The design features pretty floral motifs, finely corded with diamantes, beads and sequins. Both borders of the lace, which is also available in ivory and other colours, have asymmetrical scalloped edges that vary in width to give an attractive effect. As this is such a striking lace, it has become firmly established as one of the best-selling designs available from our comprehensive bridal fabric suppliers.

Photographs of Lisa Snowdon wearing the gorgeous, expertly-designed dress can be found in our gallery, which also features many other examples of the beautiful garments that can be created from our extensive range of embellished fabrics, bridal lace, crystal motifs and other wedding dress material.
