Sneak Preview - Victoria Ivory Lace Appliqué

Duncan Weisters, Managing Director of Platinum Bridal Fabrics, has recently returned from one of his regular fabric-sourcing trips to Paris, the city of romance and high fashion. This trip has been incredibly successful and more than 40 exciting new fabrics and embellishments have been selected to join our fantastic collection from November. Updates on these beautiful new fabrics are soon to follow but if November seems too long to wait, we would like to introduce Victoria ivory lace appliqués to whet your appetite.

Inspired by the glamour of Hollywood, Victoria ivory lace features an elaborate and extravagant design composed of three differing floral motifs. Each motif features a single, pair or group of corded flowers that have a sumptuous sequin- and bead-embroidered ground, with stems and buds edged with a continuous filigree thread of a glitzy silver colouration. Victoria lace is identically-bordered with tight, zig-zagging edges that are shaded with the use of skilled embroidery, adding a luxurious, tactile aesthetic that is further enhanced by clusters of beaded and sequinned clusters of pretty flowers. As this is such a popular design, we have a wide selection available from stock in colours ranging from classic white and ivory to more unique and daring lime green, French blue and candy pink.

Victoria lace appliqué is designed to perfectly co-ordinate with Victoria ivory lace. Two size choices of this lace appliqué, which features a lustrous ivory tulle expertly embellished with sequins, embroidery, cording and beads, are available and both benefit enormously from the extensive use of subtle metallic thread of a Champagne hue that runs through this most gorgeous of designs.

The Platinum Bridal Fabrics Special Offers Newsletter

The Platinum Bridal Fabrics newsletter brings regular updates, offers and information on the latest and greatest fabrics from our ever-growing collection. As our special offers are so popular, we have decided to introduce a dedicated monthly newsletter to spotlight them. Some of the fabrics included in our current special offer, a fantastic 10% discount on several of our most beautiful and popular laces, are detailed here. Lots of designers and brides-to-be have already taken advantage of the special promotion, which runs until 16th October 2013.

Black lace is being seen more and more from the aisle to the catwalk. Two of our black lace designs, Alexandra and Jayne, are designed to tantalise and fascinate with their striking aesthetic, made further enticing by the bold black colouration. These laces, as well as being perfect to create unique wedding gowns, can also be used to great effect when making corsets, evening wear and theatrical costumes.

The glamour and sophistication of vintage styled lace is called immediately to mind by Madeleine, a corded and beaded design available exclusively in ivory. A border fabric, Madeleine is composed of the finest tulle ground that has been embellished with a selection of richly-coloured floral motifs, elegantly corded and highlighted with beads, sequins and golden filigree thread. The leaves have then been embroidered with ivory thread, contrasting with the flowers and adding an extra dimension to this enchanting fabric.

Also offering a stylish vintage lace appeal is Amber ivory lace. The fabric, a generous 52” in width, has matching edges that have been gently scalloped to create a pretty effect, which draws the eye to the unusual column-type motifs. These motifs, which alternate between gently curving and wider, more ornate towers, are embellished with subtly-placed sequins embroidered with fine pale ivory thread.

There are several other beautiful bridal fabrics currently available with the special 10% discount, including Courtney, Danielle, Emily, Francesca and Sarah laces. Please enjoy browsing the full selection.

A Breathtaking Work of Art - Zoe Lace

Platinum Bridal Fabrics were delighted to receive some photographs recently of a magnificent and stunning couture bridal dress, created with the extensive use of our exciting Zoe ivory lace. The dress, which was created by Vahan Khachatryan Atelier Haute Couture, features a train and veil of dramatically exaggerated proportions, can only be described as a breathtaking work of art.

Zoe is one of the most unusual lace designs in our collection. The flowers of the design, primroses, cascade in a riotous yet geometric tumble around a larger central flower, creating a visual effect of great beauty and glamour. Surrounding the lace are identical, scalloped-edged borders that exhibit great craftsmanship, as fine, tactile laser fabric has been embellished with raised satin flowers, each with a glistening diamante at its centre. This embossing gives a beautiful and eyecatching three-dimensional effect, which is further enhanced by the expert use of metallic filigree thread and striking tubular beads. Great attention has been given to each detail of this lace at every stage of its creation; the flowers even feature skilfully-embroidered buds and a fringe has been added to produce a subtle, ephemeral effect.

Also available in classic white, Zoe lace remains one of the most innovative and exciting fabrics in our extensive bridal collection. As can be seen from the photographs, the lace can be used to create a truly magical gown that will dazzle the wedding guests, and especially the groom, on the big day.

We love receiving photographs of our customers’ completed creations; although working closely with such beautiful fabrics is always a pleasure, seeing the fabric come together to create the perfect garment for the bride fills our team with pleasure. We invite you to send in your photographs to feature in our growing online gallery.

Eloise Lace Used by Exclusive Bridal Dress Designer

It is always rewarding to us when our customers send in photos of their completed bride and groom creations. We recently received some fantastic pictures of a breathtaking wedding dress created by exclusive designer Linda Davey at No. 9 Bridal Couture which we are excited to share here.

Linda Davey is based in Western Australia, from where she creates her unique wedding garments. Always in high demand, Linda accepts commissions for a range of garments and can boast an exclusive and discerning client portfolio which includes guests at the Royal Wedding. Her designs, all of which are elegant and sophisticated, are carefully crafted to each individual body shape she works with and her skills led to her receiving the coveted ‘Best Wedding Dress Designer’ trophy in 2012 at the prestigious Wedding Industry Awards. Linda takes inspiration from, among others, Oscar-winning Edith Head, who designed costumes for many Hollywood stars including Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly.

Platinum Bridal Fabrics were delighted to supplyLinda with our gorgeously-feminine Eloise white lace to create the stunning bridal gown in the photographs. A particularly attractive feature of the short and stylish dress is the open back which, along with a neck strap, creates a pretty loveheart shape.

Eloise lace is available in black, ivory or the classic white used by Linda. A corded border lace on a high-quality tulle ground, Eloise features single flowers in its design which gives a sense of motion and breaks up the tulle to beautiful effect. Along the borders, which have matching scalloped edges, a corded motif of 5 intricate flowers completes this exciting and versatile lace. To complement Eloise, matching lace trim is also available from Platinum Bridal Fabrics.

Please keep sending in your photographs to feature in our newsletter and online gallery. You can email them to info@bridalfabrics.co.uk and, if you wish to speak to a member of our team personally, you can call 01254 873333.

Brand-New Lace Designs - Now in Stock!

The latest batch of brand new lace designs has arrived at Platinum Bridal Fabrics amidst great excitement. Two brand-new designs have been added to our collection along with a new twist on some old favourites, continuing our commitment to be suppliers of the most diverse range of wedding fabrics in the UK and beyond.

Measuring a generous 56” from edge to edge, Leah is an unusual and pretty addition to our collection of ivory lace. Composed of a series of closely-set floral displays, the lace is utterly feminine, a quality further enhanced by delicately-scalloped edges and an evocative looping fringe. The unusual touch is given with the use of a very open weave that has been corded with delicately-pale ivory thread to highlight and embellish the sumptuous bouquets that make up Leah’s striking design.

Joining Leah in our collection of ivory lace is Meredith. The Welsh name means ‘noted ruler’ and is perfect for this regal fabric, which is a more refined version of our incredibly successful Gemma lace launched earlier this year. Our talented designer has lovingly corded several floral elements of this fringed lace, giving the fabric a bold, three-dimensional appearance.

Available in a range of exciting colours including plum, lilac, powder pink and China blue, Belinda lace is enduringly popular at Platinum Bridal Fabrics. By popular demand, we now have this elegant fabric available in classic white. Two sizes of gorgeously-designed floral motifs shaded with the most lustrous embroidery thread run throughout the body of the design, leading to the symmetrical, scalloped borders that surround it. To further highlight and embellish the stunning design of Belinda, fine cording has been expertly utilised.

Designed with luxury in mind, Svetlana is a premium choice and its quality is unmatched. Incredibly delicate thread has been carefully interwoven and embroidered to create a complex lattice of flowers which have then been beautifully embellished with pearls, beading and diamantes. Svetlana can be used to create a wedding dress that is truly unique and will be the talking point of the day.

Please enjoy examining the latest additions to our lace collection. For further information on any of our products and services, please contact our capable team on 01254 873333 or email us at info@bridalfabrics.co.uk.

Groom Fabrics - Our Comprehensive Collection

The wedding day is as special for the groom as it is for the bride and he too should look and feel his best. Platinum Bridal Fabrics proudly supply a fantastic selection of materials perfectly suited to creating a range of garments for the groom, including ties, cravats, handkerchiefs, cummerbunds and waistcoats.

Lovingly manufactured on state-of-the-art looms at our mill in Darwen, the Platinum Bridal Fabrics collection of woven brocades provides the most comprehensive choice of these bold and striking materials. Each is named after a European city to reflect their diverse and metropolitan nature, which is created by weaving warp and weft thread of varying colours. Valencia, with its high-gloss waves undulating across a tactile satin background, is one of our most popular woven Jacquard Brocades.

Plain fabrics, used creatively, can form garments just as striking as those made using woven brocades. Our Contessa collection is specially woven, producing a material that does not snag in the way that many other plain fabrics do while the Majestic range is perfect for creating stylish bow ties. Elegant and understated, our plain fabrics are designed to offer a simple yet luxurious aesthetic.

Our sumptuous embroidered fabrics are produced in Austria and have been popular since their introduction to the Platinum Bridal Fabrics collection in the summer of 2013. During the intricate process of embroidery, a high-quality base fabric is embellished with fine thread to give an alternative look to woven fabrics. Stitches can be added in all directions and contrast levels are high, making these fabrics incredibly eye-catching. Manhattan is perhaps the most striking design within this collection, featuring a dense pattern of swirling shapes across a subtly-textured satin-backed dupion.

When designing a waistcoat, attention must be given to the lining. Adding a complementary or contrasting touch, our lining fabrics are available in a choice of more than 50 colours including navy, mauve and claret, meaning finding the perfect tone is a matter of simplicity.

Please enjoy browsing our collection of groom fabrics. For further information, please contact our expert team on 01254 873333 or email us at info@bridalfabrics.co.uk.
