New Crystal Embroideries - Wedding Dress Embellishments

Crystal embroideries are beautiful wedding dress embellishments that are often used at the waistband to gorgeous effect. The motifs, which have become extremely popular this year among wedding dress designers, can also be used creatively in a number of other ways, including to embellish bridal accessories such as handbags. Two new crystal motifs have been added to our eclectic range: Mirabelle and Gisele.

Mirabelle derives from the Latin word mirabilis, meaning ‘wonderful’. Never has a name been more aptly chosen; Mirabelle is a truly wondrous embellishment that has inspired the imagination of many of our customers. The overall shape of the design is somewhere between a star and a diamond, the perfect outline to surround the stellar array of pearls, sequins, diamantes and beads that playfully shimmer as they catch the light. Glitz, glamour and flamboyance are words that perfectly encapsulate the inimitable style of Mirabelle crystal embroideries, which are finished with a luxurious metallic thread.

Joining Mirabelle in our new collection of crystal wedding dress embellishments is Gisele, a crystal embroidery that has been heavily embellished to produce an entrancing effect. Pearls, sequins, beads and diamantes have been attached with an exciting selection of embroidery threads to add an enticing lustre to this well-proportioned design which takes the form of a diamond whose four points have been highlighted with large silver beads. Bold and striking yet still quintessentially feminine, Gisele is predicted to become a favourite of our customers.

Both of these new crystal embellishments will be available to purchase in December 2013: pre-orders are now being accepted and updates will be posted soon within these news pages. To make sure you never miss any updates from Platinum Bridal Fabrics, please subscribe to our exciting newsletter.

New Lace Appliqué - Pre-ordering Now Available!

The gorgeous Platinum Bridal Fabrics collection of ivory lace appliqués has been extended, with eleven new appliqués waiting to be discovered. All of the new items will be available to purchase in December 2013 and we are now accepting pre-orders. Here we present a preview of some of the new lace appliqués, that have been added to our exclusive selection.

Feather-light and encapsulating the stylish glamour of vintage lace, Olga ivory lace appliqués display a sweet and innocent femininity. The heavily embellished fabric is designed to make a subtly-beautiful statement, embroidered as it is with heavy ivory thread and the addition of clear sequins.

Nadine ivory lace appliqués exude a different yet equally-attractive quality. Bold and dramatic, these large motifs have been skilfully embroidered onto a rich ivory-coloured tulle base allowing for easy sewing onto the bridal dress. Foliage radiates outward in entrancing spokes from around a central flower; the entire design is embellished with an extravagant and diverse selection of sequins, pearls and beads.

Simplicity is the key to the soft elegance exhibited by Olympia ivory lace appliqués. Superlative cording skills have been used to create the floral design which, as it has such an innate beauty, needs no further embellishment. Olympia is, simply put, breathtaking.

Combining a sumptuous ivory tulle base with impeccable ivory embroidery, Justine lace appliqués have a classic shape and, like Olga, echo the glamour and sophistication of vintage lace. Floral details are highlighted throughout the body of the design using a combination of Champagne-coloured metallic thread and colourless sequins.

Using a richly-coloured ivory thread, our designer has embellished a delicate ivory tulle background to create Savannah, a pretty lace appliqué which also makes magnificent use of Champagne filigree thread. The addition of pearls, ivory beads and clear sequins completes this charming addition to our bridal lace appliqué collection.

New French Chantilly

As our most recent sourcing trip was to Paris, the city of romance and haute couture, it was inevitable that we would discover several beautiful examples of fine French Chantilly lace. These have now been added to our collection of ivory lace products.

Chantilly is a town in the north of France and the history of the lace which bears its name can be traced back to the 17th century. An aristocrat, the Duchess de Longueville, paid privately for a lace-manufacturing facility to be built in the town which, as it was so close to Paris where fashion was even then big business, became known for the fine quality of its production facilities and the lace that was created in them.

From then until now, the production of Chantilly lace in the town has only ever ceased once, during the time of the French Revolution. Lacemaking was seen as an art associated with Royalism and many of Chantilly’s highly-skilled lacemakers met a grisly end under the guillotine. In 1804 after the revolution was over, Napoleon I spearheaded a revival of the town’s production facilities and Chantilly lace continues to be designed and manufactured there to this day.

Adrianna ivory lace has a truly enchanting appeal, with a bold floral design highlighted with the most delicate cording. With a flowing drape, the fabric has matching edges comprising a straight edge framing a softly-scalloped border. Adrianna also features added versatility with the straight edges being easily-removable to reveal the full beauty of the underlying scallops.

A classic design with a beautifully delicate and complex mesh shot through with elegant and tasteful floral bouquets, Agnes instantly captures the imagination. The overall effect given by this gorgeously-tempting bridal lace is light, floaty and dreamy; a true inspiration.

Joining these two new ivory lace products is Cordelia, a classic Chantilly wedding lace of a rich ivory tone. Matching scalloped edges frame the glamorous design, which comprises flamboyant and extravagantly-large flowers given strong definition by expert cording.

New Lace - Direct from Paris

Many new bridal laces sourced recently in Paris have been added to our collection, all of which are now available for pre-order and will be in stock between November and December 2013. Ivory lace continues to be a popular wedding dress material across Europe and several examples were chosen for their beautiful textures and designs.

Ella and Halle are similar in style though Ella has been subtly enhanced with the use of a metallic Champagne thread. The borders of these laces are composed of gently undulating scallops while the main body comprises connecting flower bouquets. Each flower has been hand-embroidered with carefully-chosen beads and sequins, giving a tasteful and delicate appearance to these gorgeous bridal fabrics. Both Ella and Halle were major talking points during our sourcing trip to Paris and we are predicting big things for the exquisite embellished fabrics in 2014.

Evocative and exotic, Anoushka wedding lace features matching scalloped edges and expertly-designed embroidery rendered in a rich and deep ivory colour to form a gorgeous floral pattern. A highly embellished fabric, Anoushka glistens and glimmers with the light that catches in its many lustrous sequins.

Flamboyance, extravagance and drama are some of the words that come to mind upon discovering the unique beauty of Harmony wedding lace. In gorgeous ivory tones, the design comprises big and bold flowers surrounded by complex foliage, the entirety being decorated with beads, pearls and sequins. To attach these embellishments, a mixture of ivory and silver threads has been skilfully used. Matching borders enclose the striking yet well-balanced design, which is set to be extremely popular during the coming bridal season.

We look eagerly forward to supplying this fabric and seeing the garments it is used to create. Please enjoy browsing our newest ivory wedding lace and do not hesitate to contact us 01254 873333 or email us at info@bridalfabrics.co.uk for further advice, ideas and inspiration.

Bridal Lace Trim - Our Newest Embellishments

The fruits of our latest sourcing trip to Paris are now being added to our website. Available from stock between November and December 2013, the products can now be pre-ordered; here are a selection of our newest and wedding dress embellishments.

Highly embellished with a selection of fine beads and pearls which form dazzling chains of flowers, Omega lace trim is an exciting and vibrant design. Just 8.5cms (3.4”) in width from edge to edge, Omega is a delicate trim that is finished with soft fringes.

Martina lace trim focuses heavily on beautiful embroidery which is made even more attractive with the removal of the backing, allowing the complex design to stand alone in its beauty. Leaves and petals, which have been highlighted with fine cording, form a riotous display which is contained by borders featuring hand-sewn beads. Each border is different; one side creates a foliage effect while the other is shaped like flower buds.

Exclusively available in classic ivory, Polly bridal lace trim is an elegant and understated design. Fringed on each edge, the floral bouquets within the lace are highlighted with exquisite ivory cord before being further embellished with subtle colourless beads and sequins.

We are incredibly excited to present Jade, an individualistic trim that combines vintage lace design with a contemporary aesthetic. With a fine, lightweight edging, the trim is a generous 6” in width and features an array of expertly-placed sequins and beads surrounded by a continuous fringe on both sides. An intriguing and esoteric mixture of weaves has been employed to create the base pattern of Jade bridal lace trim, which is predicted to become a hot trend as soon as it is made available.
