Chantilly Lace — New Designs Just Arrived!

We are delighted to announce the addition of lots of new types and styles of bridal lace, enhancing our already-exceptional collection and giving you even more choice. Here we focus exclusively on our new Chantilly lace designs but look out for further articles coming soon with details of more of the newest wedding dress material now available from us!

‘Chantilly’ is the word on the lips of all the most renowned and forward-thinking fashionistas and couture designers this season and we recently introduced a dazzling collection of embellished Chantilly lace to rapturous reception. We are now proud to bring a further six Chantilly lace designs to our discerning customers.

Mila - Corded Ivory Chantilly Lace

Our designer has chosen Mila ivory lace, a stunning French Chantilly fabric, to be enhanced with rich ivory cord, further embellishing the already densely-woven flowers-and-foliage design. One side of the wedding dress material features visually-pleasing scallops and fringes while the other side has a straight fringed edge to add asymmetric appeal.

Adelaide - Ivory Chantilly Lace

A sweet, pretty and ultra-feminine design featuring floral motifs that grow denser toward the bottom of the lace, Adelaide has identical fringed and scalloped edges. This is a perfect design for winter, despite being named after a city known for having warm and pleasant temperatures!

Thea - Ivory Chantilly Lace with Cording

Matching borders frame this boldly-evocative design, which flies in the face of the season with its warming and attractive summery feel. If you’re jetting or even sailing off for a wedding in the sun this winter (or perhaps just feel like defying the weather and creating your own summer right here at home!), Thea could be your perfect wedding dress fabric.

Tiggy - Ivory Corded Chantilly Lace

A sweeping, undulating and unashamedly-flamboyant design rises deep into the body of this bridal lace, creating a sense of breathless movement and perfectly-balanced harmony. This is a fabric fit for a princess and would suit a bride with a sense of extravagant drama.

Eileen - Chantilly Lace in Ivory

Seamlessly transitioning from the wild to the whimsical, Eileen wedding lace is extraordinary and unusual in several ways. The ivory colouration is so pale and subtle that, at first glance, it appears to be pure white while the floral design is skilfully picked out with a dense covering of fine thread. Definitely one for a creative, individual and unique bride.

Marigold - Corded Chantilly Lace in Ivory

Wow, wow and wow again! We’re not sure if we could get away with just writing the word ‘wow’ 100 times to describe this delectable wedding dress material although we do know that even doing that still wouldn't fully convey just how gorgeous and stunning it is. Your devoted writer is (for once!) lost for words and can only suggest that you visit the product page and order a free sample to experience its divine beauty for yourself.

Zowie Wows the Crowds in Ivory Lace!

We recently received these amazing photographs of bride Zowie, who wore a bespoke dress created using our bridal lace fabric. Belinda Mahoney, the dressmaker, is a teaching assistant who would love to make wedding dresses as a full-time job - after seeing this stunning creation, we think she should go for it as she would be a huge success!

Belinda was approached by Zowie’s mother-in-law, who is a friend and colleague and had seen some of the dresses Belinda had previously designed. She agreed to create Zowie’s dress, which was based on a gown previously tried on but that had too low and too revealing a back for Zowie’s refined tastes. Belinda had purchased fabrics from us before and, after having found our service to be fast, reliable and professional, decided the experience was definitely worth repeating.

After ordering several generously-sized samples, which were quickly dispatched and received, Belinda and Zowie decided together on Victoria ivory lace. This exquisite fabric would be used over ivory satin to gorgeous, classic effect. Belinda creatively used the scalloped edges of Victoria ivory lace to finish the hem of the dress as well as painstakingly cutting out several individual floral motifs to create the edging. Determined not to waste even a centimeter of the divine wedding dress material, Belinda even made an attractive headdress from spare pieces along with creating embellishments to enhance the beauty of Zowie’s carefully-chosen shoes.

The gown was, of course, an unmitigated success and Zowie, after much proud swishing, refused to take it off after the final fitting! Husband Rob was left breathless at the beauty of his new bride, as they married in a dream wedding in Cyprus.

Belinda told us that she would “definitely recommend Bridal Fabrics for their prompt service and quality fabrics. Their range of designs and colours made the choice of lace much easier.”

We would like to thank Belinda and Zowie for sharing their story and photographs and invite you to do the same. Email us today!

The Perfect Place for Heavier Lace

Planning a winter wedding? A great place to start your search for the ideal wedding dress material is in our dedicated ‘Heavier Lace’ section, where you will find a gorgeous selection of bridal lace fabric of a robust, heavy and comforting weight designed to create structured wedding gowns perfect for the colder months. Immerse yourself in the collection and allow your senses to be inspired.

We have organised our bridal fabrics in a variety of ways so that you can search for your perfect material in your preferred way: options include searching by colour, design and price. All of our heavier lace is gathered together in its own section though each owes its weight to different factors such as the density of the threads used, the spread of the pattern or the amount of beading and embellishment. Three of our favourite heavier laces are:

Barbara - Ivory Beaded Lace

If you like to stand out and are looking for an exciting, unusual fabric, then Barbara could be the ideal design for you. Featuring sequins, beads and pearls which make up an eyecatching series of closely-spaced vertical lines, this lace is framed by a border linking to a selection of differently-sized geometric shapes throughout the body. A premium choice for a lucky bride, Barbara ivory lace is something very special.

Lulu - Ivory Guipure Lace

Completely different yet equally intriguing is Lulu, a design that swirls and curves to produce a dazzling, mesmerising effect. Added to our range very recently, this guipure lace has matching edges and carries a surprisingly-small price tag for a wedding dress material of this quality standard. For more information about guipure lace, check out our recent news article.

Lanisha - Ivory Beaded Lace

This is the absolute cream of the crop - prepare to be stunned! Lanisha begins with a fine ivory tulle that has been decorated throughout with exquisitely-formed filigree wire. This wire is highly embellished with beads, diamantés and sequins while strings of beautiful pearls curve fluidly around embroidered yarn and more shimmering pearls and beads. Layered flowers are added here and there, each of which centres on a lush, sparkling diamanté. Added to our range just 2 months ago, this fabric is hugely popular among brides with a well-developed sense of aesthetic beauty.

Guipure Lace Combines Trend with Tradition

You may not know the name but you will almost certainly have seen Guipure Lace before, as it is one of the oldest and still most popular types of wedding dress material. We have got an eclectic range of nineteen guipure lace designs for our discerning customers to choose from - which will be your favourite..?

To find the earliest reference to guipure lace, you have to go all the way back to 1327. In this distant year, the clergymen of Exeter Cathedral inventoried their most valuable possessions, among which four pieces of the classical fabric are proudly noted. Guipure lace is also sometimes referred to a Venetian or Filet lace and appears to have developed from the cleverly-woven nets of some of the earliest communities of fishermen.

‘Guipure’ comes from an Old French word that means ‘cover with silk’. A fine backing fabric is stitched with embroidered motifs of a floral or geometric design which continuously repeats - this repeating is the signature style of all guipure laces. The motifs create a firm texture and dense pattern that are simply not found in laces of other styles, making guipure lace truly unique. During the delicate process of finishing, the lightweight backing fabric used as a base disintegrates, leaving behind that classic guipure look.

Our collection of this quintessential bridal fabric includes:

Penelope - Ivory Guipure Lace

A host of floral motifs, each the shape of a six-pointed star, stands in precise geometric lines to create a dazzling, mesmerising display. Its pale yet rich ivory colouration is soft and appealing while matching borders frame the whole for a bridal lace that is as classy as it is striking

Emma - White Guipure Lace

A riot of flowers, buds and foliage seem, at first glance, to jostle for attention. As your eyes linger further, however, an elegant and refined balance becomes so apparent that you will wonder how you ever missed it in the first place. If you prefer, you can also choose this lace in Ivory

Lola - Ivory Guipure Lace

If you like to go for glam, then Lola ivory lace is for you! A rich colouration and more free-form design than many guipure laces make this an eclectic choice and soft, ephemeral fringing lifts the wedding dress material from the sublime to the divine

Bridal Fabrics - UK to New Zealand

Even though she lives just about as far from the UK as you can possibly get, talented designer Alison Eades still chooses to order wedding dress material from us. We are certainly glad she does as it means we get to see the glorious garments she creates from it - check out this delightful dress, which was designed and created for one of her many extremely-satisfied customers.

Alison tells us that the choice of wedding fabrics, particularly bridal lace, is quite limited in New Zealand, where she lives and works. This led to her relying on the internet to find the right materials for her discerning customers and, after discovering our website several years ago, has used Platinum Bridal Fabrics almost exclusively ever since.

Bride-to-be Grace approached Alison with a number of photographs that she had collected, each featuring very lacy and romantic wedding dresses. Together, they decided to use lace on the bodice of Grace’s gown to create the romance she desired. Alison wanted to use satin to create an element of mystery about the skirt and, after hours of painstaking design work, the flow through the pickups in the outer layer achieved perfection. Grace didn’t want any puffiness to be evident in the skirt and Alison, using Champagne overlaying Ivory, was able to skillfully design the perfect silhouette that was full without being bulky.

To add a playful, romantic touch, two laces were chosen for Grace’s exquisite wedding gown. The two laces chosen were Jacqueline lace and Barbara which both feature particularly striking design elements - three-dimensional flowers and formal lines respectively. Showing her unique talent and keen eye for visual harmony, Alison matched these laces together with style and panache, immediately delivering the unique, personalised wedding dress of Grace’s dreams.

We asked Alison to comment on her experience with us and she replied: “They are very professional, their service is second to none, the quality is amazing and even though I live across the other side of the world, the fabric arrives within a few days.” It’s our pleasure, Alison!
