Brand New Lace... Can YOU Keep a Secret from Santa?

So, that is what is on top of our special seasonal sack this, er, November! What other delights does it hold? Find out , you naughty girl/boy!

We are extremely pleased to announce that Santa has made a special deposition to us here at Platinum Bridal Fabrics and has brought a super-sized sack of brand new wedding lace! Now, he didn’t exactly say that we could open the tempting bundle early (a whole two months early!) but, ome to that, he didn’t exactly say that we COULDN’T open it either! So, what do you say we have just a little peek together? We won’t tell if you won’t…

The first thing we notice as we tear off all the wrapping (er, we mean peel away one corner very carefully for just a peek), is the colours! All through summer we saw a battle between the different colours of lace from traditional whites and ivories; it seems that the favourites have definitely established themselves for this coming season and, though white and ivory do feature, they are definitely looking a little worried that their traditional two-party system is about to be broken wide open!

To whet your appetite, here are three of our favourites from the oops-now-we-are-on-Santa’s-naughty-list collection, brand new at Platinum Bridal Fabrics; and not a mention of a white or ivory!

  • Drew : Flesh Beaded Lace. We are cheating a little bit here but there is no way we could not include Drew lace in our favourites list. Santa has only included a single sample of this divine fabric for now and, call us selfish, but we are keeping it! But, you CAN pre-order this sumptuous embroidered fabric today for delivery in January 2017. Believe us, the 3D Georgette petals, unique pattern and exquisite embellishments are worth waiting for
  • Leanne : Corded Lace. Santa always tries to include everyone and has also brought us a new selection of fabric that is so versatile it could be used for the Prom Queen, the Mother of the Bride or anyone in between (even the groom, if you’re feeling bohemian). Leanne lace is simple and subtle but don't let that fool you: it has a beautifully tactile texture, surprising detail for those who care to look deeply and bags of personality expressed in rich vibrant tones of Blush, Cappuccino and more
  • Sinead : Corded Lace. Once again, the colourful, creative fabrics are high on everyone’s must-have-give-me list for the upcoming season. Sinead is tasteful and refined in its pattern design but loves to grab attention with its dramatic colour palette of ten distinct tones. Gorgeous.

A Triptych of Tantalising Treats!

Perhaps it is just the seemingly-mystical attraction of human beings to the number three (three wishes, three wise men, three chances to guess the goblin’s name), but when anything comes as a group of three then each item seems to have a special connection with each other item. This is true for the latest tantalising trio of wedding lace styles recently added to our collection and available to purchase now from Platinum Bridal Fabrics. That’s if you can choose between these three queen-like laces! There was a time when we wouldn’have to check if you were sitting down while you were online but in this mobile age then you could be anywhere, so we advise that you sit down before you start finding out what these new designs are all about. You may just feel a little woozy with the thrill of the reveal, as you enjoy the dramatic, decadent and delicious delights of…

Ivory corded lace priyaPriya

This is a diaphanous, ephemerous and ultimately marvellous corded lace, rendered in an ivory tone of breaktaking subtlety. Extremely feminine, Priya is a Gallon Leavers lace and has a characteristic style that will flatter any body shape with expert ease. Absolutely divine.

Maverick

Black raschel lace maverickIf Priya is the demure and radiant queen of our new trio of wedding lace, then Maverick is the wayward prince marching boldly up and down the battlements! We originally supplied Maverick bridal lace exclusively in black but now stock the ivory tone by popular demand. In changing from such a dark colour to such a light colour, Maverick has lost absolutely none of that animate, almost-living quality,

DImitra

Ivory corded lace dimitraThough Dimitra is a corded ivory lace, created using an indentical method as was used to create Priya lace, this only goes to show just how versatile a method it really is, as the two fabrics are so different in style yet an underlying, almost familial cnnection can be discerned. To continure our regal metaphor, Dimitra would be our imaginary queen’s imaginary rival, both vying for your attention.

So, there you have our latest trio of temptations and now the focus moves softly but squarely onto you. Which of the trio is YOUR temptation? Enjoy the discovery and call our bridal team for guidance advice, information, inspiration or with any comments.

Our Wedding Lace at Exclusive UK Show...

One  of the most important fabric trade shows in England is Textile Forum, The Fashion Fabric Show. It takes place twice a year and representatives from Wedding Dress Fabrics will once again be showcasing our newest fabrics, along with a selection of classic favourites that have stood the test of time. Among an exclusive array of industry professionals, dressmakers, fabric designers and major retail decision-makers, we will be in attendance for both days of the prestigious event, as we have done in many previous years.

Textile Forum started back in 2002 and quickly blew up to become a must-attend event on every major fashion calendar. Thousands of people, more and more at each event, show up to network and examine the latest designs. From the big-name retailers to independent boutique owners, everyone is buzzing with excitement as the event unfolds over two days, welcoming anyone with a connection to the trade. It is supported by many organisations and happens two times a year, providing an ideal platform for us to exhibit our exciting, unique and highly-professional selection of wedding dress material.

One of the most exciting parts of the event is not connected with fabric at all but is simply the venue itself. Named after its address, One Marylebone, the glamourous listed building was once an historic church and has been transformed into a luxurious, fully equipped conference and events centre, well able to cater to all the needs of the many visitors that will walk through its doors over the coming two days.

Just 45 exhibitors will be showcasing to the crowds, of which we are extremely proud to number. A constant source of inspiration to everyone from brides to couture bridal designers, our vast and unmatched range of wedding dress fabrics will, once again, be a major draw and inspiration, particularly to young, up and coming designers fresh from university.

Textile Forum takes place on the 12th and 13th of October this year and, for further information, check out the official website at www.textileforum.org.uk. On the exclusive Wedding Dress Fabrics stand, we will mainly be focusing on our newest laces which will be a big hit in the coming seasons. Make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter and following us on social media for all of the gossip from the event!

New Laces and Trims

With over 400 laces in stock, not to mention a huge selection of trims, appliques and embellishments, we believe that we have something to suit every taste or style of dress design. However, it is still exciting to add new items to the range. From initial ordering, we normally receive a sample hanger, which enables us to do initial photography, descriptions and pricing but then sadly, we often have to wait 12-14 weeks until the goods are available to supply from stock.

We have noticed a trend towards laces that do not have matching borders. Most designers choose to use the heavier border at the bottom of the dress and let the pattern reduce down as it rises up the dress. However, others choose to have a intricate, heavy bust line with pattern reducing as it cascades down the dress.

Over the next fortnight, we will be receiving 40-50 sample hangers and every now again, we will give you a sneak preview. Be sure to follow our blog or keep an eye on our "Pre Order" page.
