This elegant type of lace was originally made exclusively in Northern France but is now made all over the world.
Originally known as Alencon lace, it is formed by high lighting details in the pattern using a cord, which gives these laces a slightly textured look. The cording itself can be very fine and delicate, highlighting the motifs in the design of the lace or add a 3 dimensional effect with heavier cording, altering the handle of a lace. A superb example of light cording is Katherine Lace whilst an example of a heavier corded lace is Meredith Lace.
