This elegant type of lace was originally made exclusively in Northern France, as well as chantilly lace but is now made in various places throughout the world. Also known as Alencon lace, it is formed by outlining details in the lace using a heavier thread or cord, giving these laces a three dimensional textured look. They are generally fine, light and floaty, but can be heavy and chunky. Rachel Lace is particularly good example of a corded lace.
