Dressmaking Materials for Deluxe Dancewear
The eighth series of American hit TV Series 'Dance Moms' has come to an end, leaving viewers on both sides of the Atlantic desperate for more! Inspiring young dancers all over the world, the show has sparked a massive increase in the number of young people wanting to take up the hobby and maybe even turn it into a career.
The clothing worn by a person performing any kind of dance must serve two distinct functions: it must be completely comfortable to allow the dancer total freedom of movement while maintaining a beautiful, striking aesthetic. Here at Bridal Fabrics, we stock an extensive selection of materials designed to serve both functions when made into tutus, ballet outfits and much more.
Available in more than 30 colours right across the spectrum, Carnival is a soft-knitted Italian tulle. Extremely versatile, this tulle fabric can be used as an overlay for all sorts of dance outfits, as well as creating ballet tutus and elegant bell-shaped underskirts and petticoats. You can purchase a shade card to see the different colour options available.
Though often used in wedding dresses and bridesmaids' outfits, Fantasy Net Tulle is also perfect for creating tutus and other dancewear. A stiff nylon net with a firm handle makes it easy to work with and you can choose from white, silk white or ivory colours.
With plain edges framing an array of interconnected floral motifs, Yvonne has plenty of stretch thanks to its high elastane content, making it the perfect dressmaking material for dancewear. Yvonne stretch lace is available in navy, jade, pewter, turquoise or midnight blue.
Another fabric with excellent stretching qualities in both directions, Evie Raschel stretch lace features an attractive rose motif design. Choose from aqua, ivory, yellow, Champagne, scarlet or candy pink.
The perfect finishing touch can be added with coloured trims and appliques, all of which can be found in dedicated sections of the Bridal Fabrics website. These beautiful tutus were created by Alison Godbold at Handmade by Alison: among other fabrics, she used hand-dyed Chloe lace trim and Jessica lace trim in powder pink and violet.
