The White Gallery London 2012 Bridal Exhibition took place last week from 20th – 22nd May and this year was most definitely a show not to be missed! Bridal Fabrics supply many of these highly talented designers with bridal fabric, laces and trims.
It is well known as Uk's chicest bridal design event where the latest eye-catching and stunning designs are unveiled. To start the event off with a bang, four designer catwalks commenced with Royal couturier Stewart Parvin opening the show.
Stuart Parvin brought out a number of simple silhouette dresses which very minimal fuss but yet had such attention to detail that a very strong style statement was made. His inspiration came from song titles:
- Penny Lane – Short, bustier style wedding dress
- Crazy For You – Simple yet stunning it was a textured column wedding dress
- Wild Horses & Avalon – wedding dresses with fitted bodices and then huge, full skirts
Next on the catwalk was the Ian Stuart show and he brought high drama to the catwalk with wedding dresses featuring full and flamboyant dresses which wowed the audience yet remained breathtakingly beautiful. There were lots of layers of Silk, Tulle and our favourite, Bridal Lace which were all heavily embellished with flowers, bows and had ruching and draping included in their designs too.
This collection was most definitely attention grabbing! This particular collection along with the others will be setting the style trends which we see over the next few months.
There was then a break from the catwalks for dinnertime before the afternoon began with Alan Hannah to showcase their new collection. It was clear that there was a distinct retro theme to the wedding dresses and we were taken back to the fabulous fifties and superb sixties! It was all very Audrey Hepburn but this style was then contrasted with fuller, more structured styles more commonly associated with Grace Kelly!
Ornate bridal lace, satin bows and then crystal embellishments all provided much needed details and it was in this collection whereby an ice white strapless column wedding dress of embellished flowers finished with swatches of organza tulle simply stole the show!
Then to finish off the first day of the catwalk shows Anoushka G took us on a journey with her Around the World Collection whereby some of the most glamorous locations had been used as inspiration. Within this very special collection we saw floaty lines, delicate pastel colours and delicate crystal embellishments with beading detail. There was flower motifs and detailing which hinted at very noticeable places on the map:
- South America
- New York
Our managing director was at the event and enjoyed every second of it! What really got him excited was seeing the bridal fabric which he supplied finally come to life and be showcased as a stunning, dramatic and really beautiful wedding dress which will change and make an impact on the trends to come over the next few months.
